The march marked World Suicide Prevention Day, a day ahead of R U OK Day and both served as timely reminders to check in with loved ones and friends and raise awareness of an issue claiming more and more lives each day.
The march went from underneath Frank Aston Hill to the Civic Centre.
Afterwards there were speeches on the Civic Centre lawn and Vicky Prospero told those gathered that they shouldn't be afraid to say the word 'suicide' to children.
"Are you suicidal?' Do you have suicidal thoughts?'" Ms Prospero said.
"That's all you can do really, is be open."
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said everyone had our part to play in helping those who may experience, adverse events in life, and emotions so strong that they consider taking their own lives.
The annual march has been running for nine years and aims to shine a light on suicide prevention.
