A heatwave extending across three states was predicted to affect Mount Isa over the weekend reaching into the mid-40s. Heatwave conditions extended from Western Australia across to Queensland but did not bring the extreme temperatures as was predicted.
The Bureau of Meteorology predicted temperatures for Saturday and Sunday to soar up to 44 degrees, but it did not.
"We are currently predicting a top of 44 degrees which is hotter then the February record of 43.5 degrees set in 2002," A spokesperson said during the week, however temperatures only got as high as 42 degrees.
Temperatures are still expected to reach the 40s this week with Tuesday predicting a top of 42 degrees in Mount Isa.
Wednesday and Thursday will slightly dip to 39 degrees with the 40 per cent chance of a shower. Friday and Saturday is expected to reach a top of 41 degrees.
