Qantas and Rex have redirected their flights from Mount Isa to Cloncurry after low-lying cloud was affecting viability.
Two flights were diverted to land at Cloncurry, a Qantas Townsville to Mount Isa flight and a Rex flight from Cairns to Mount Isa. Passengers would then travel by bus the last 120km to Mount Isa.
Qantas said the plane "could not land due to low-lying cloud and they would monitor the situation as the day progressed."
A Virgin Brisbane flight expected to land at 11.35am and Qantas Brisbane flight expected to land at 11.45am and are currently on schedule, but could be redirected by the pilots upon decent.
Cloud cover caused by overnight rain is currently lifting and conditions across the city are expected to ease throughout the day. A shower of rain is also predicted later in the afternoon.
Queensland Airport Limited Chief Operating Officer Kevin Gill, said a few flights in and out of Mount Isa Airport had been diverted today, due to adverse weather conditions.
"We encourage our passengers to check their flight status with their airlines and to keep a watch on our website for updated flight information," Mr Gill said.
