The soldiers from 3 Brigade's 2nd Cavalry Regiment joined forces with community members in Urandangi and Normanton to make improvements to townships across the region.
2nd Cavalry Regiment Troop Leader, Lieutenant Brenton McPhail, said the team not only completed the work they were tasked with, but also went above and beyond to make a valuable contribution to these communities.
"The Junior Non-Commissioned Officers have really taken it upon themselves and made the most of a great opportunity," Lieutenant McPhail said.
In Urandangi they refurbished Anzac memorial and also completed minor infrastructure repairs around the community and concreting and yard work at the 'Dangi' Pub, which also serves as the general store, Post Office and a wildlife care facility.
The desire to give back to the communities was a driving force for the squadron according to Tank Commander, Corporal Blake Lotty.
"From day one we were all helping out with little things, we really wanted to give something back to the community," Corporal Lotty said.
"Being away from our families is hard, especially around Anzac Day, so to be able to create the memorial and then use it to share a quiet moment with our workmates and a few locals built a really strong sense of camaraderie."
Members from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment have been supporting the Queensland Police Service to protect Indigenous communities from the spread of COVID-19.
