The Salvation Army’s Mount Isa Lieutenant Brad Whittle said the organisation was once again offering its help this Christmas.
Families in need can ask for assistance – whether it be for toys, food or a simple chat to talk about their hardships.
“Helping those in need is what we are about,” Lieutenant Whittle said.
“We will be distributing gifts and toys to families in hardship so they will have something for Christmas this year.”
“We will be distributing food vouchers so people can eat this Christmas and we will also be distributing food hampers for families in need.”
Lieutenant Whittle said holidays can be a hard time for individuals and their families and the Salvation Army is urging everyone in the local area to look out for others in the community.
“A lot of people feel the pain and pressure of loneliness, stress, financial difficulty, relationship breakdown or family conflict during this period than at any other time of the year,” he said.
“Anyone seeking support this Christmas can call us on 47432071 and we can set up an interview time.”
Each year the Salvation Army helps more than 300,000 Australians over the Christmas period and it urges people to consider others over the holidays.
