The six-race program, comprising of four heats and two finals, formed part of an action-packed weekend which included a rodeo and campdraft.
Jockey Erica Piggot hit the money in the Sedan Dip Cup when she stormed home on Chick Ching Cash to win the 200-metre sprint race.
It was the first cup win for the six-year-old stallion, breezing across the finish line a convincing length and a half ahead of Are You With It?
Owner Troy Gallagher, Normanton, said he was “very happy” with the win in the finals, but the “heat was really the toughest” race for Chick Ching Cash at the meet.
Mr Gallagher said high-calibre competition from Alligator, Mazuka and Ala Sugar made for an exciting finish in the heats.
“He [Chick Ching Cash] pipped Sugar on the line by a short nose, ‘Gator by a neck and that’s about all,” Mr Gallagher said.
“There wasn’t much in it at all.”
Chick Ching Cash is due to hit the track again at Normanton on September 19 and Burketown on October 3.
