Advanced care paramedic Marissa Kukulies said it will be her first Christmas working.
“The community needs to be taken care of on Christmas,” she said.
Ms Kukulies said they will be prepared to tackle whatever comes their way but she did not know what to expect.
“Probably I think the quantity of work will increase but I don’t think there will be one area that will be the worse,” she said.
“I can only assume it is going to be busier, you would probably enjoy being at home with family eating ham but hopefully I will be at work eating ham with work colleges.”
Ms Kukulies said she is happy to work Christmas day and give someone else in the station the chance to spend it with their family.
“I don’t have a family here so it is very different for someone who has family and kids here,” she said.
“It would be much harder so I don’t mind working.
“We will definitely try and make the best of Christmas here together as a station because we are kind of like a family.”
Mount Isa Queensland Ambulance Service officer-in-charge Matthew Steer said they will face the same jobs as any other time of year.
“Mount Isa is usual as far as you can go to other places throughout Queensland and really point your finger at what increases,” he said.
“Down the coast you would see more things like near drownings and so forth in the surf and people dunked in the surf.
“We get the same sort of emergencies in the festive seasons, Mount Isa tends to be festive seasons 24 hours a day seven days a week.
Mr Steer said his main message was for people to keep safe this festive season.
“I hope everyone enjoys themselves and has a good Christmas and New Year but just think about it is hot,” he said.
“People tend to go outside and enjoy themselves, buy new motor bikes and that type of stuff.
“Be safe, try not to mix the alcohol and the festivities to the point that people potentially get hurt.”
