The Air Quality Mount Isa (AQMI) app is designed to help locals keep track of levels of sulphur dioxide in their area.
Glencore North Queensland Copper Assets chief operating officer Mike Westernman said the AQMI app collects air quality data from across Mount Isa and delivers it in real time to residents.
“The launch of these online tools represents an industry-leading step in terms of providing free and transparent access to information on air quality,” Mr Westernman said
“They are designed to complement the existing air quality management systems, managed under the Queensland environmental regulatory regime.
“This is to minimise the impacts of our operations on the Mount Isa community,” he said.
