Ms Webber said was born in bred in Kalkadoon country and her life was a reflection of the strong women she had around her.
She said her experiences at Kalkadoon High School drew her towards a career in education and she started teaching at St Joeys, before a spell at an inner city school in London.
When she returned to work in Mount Isa at St Kieran’s, she also signed up to do a master’s at QUT in Indigenous Education which she called a transformational experience learning about her culture and Indigenous history.
That study led her to a unique research project called Pedagogy of Difference, based in Mount Isa, the first in Australia to ask Indigenous people what they wanted from education and teachers.
