Frozen Wonderland owner Ken Jensen said this was their first time in Mount Isa and it was something different for people to try.
“It’s a good cool sport,” he said.
“Most kids like to try rolling skating, roller blading and skateboards these days and ice skating is just a little bit more extreme of that.”
Mr Jensen said the temperature was set at 25 degrees so no warm clothing was required apart from “nice fluffy socks”.
“We provide basic training and we have the penguin skate aids for beginners on the ice,” he said.
“You might want to bring a bike helmet, knee pads, shin pads and elbow pads.”
