It has been a very eventful few weeks throughout the community, and with more and more events in the lead up to Christmas, it seems as though the community is enjoying their entry into summer.

Just this weekend saw a number of events, all of which were very different in nature, but appealing to a broad cross-section of the community.
After facing patronage uncertainty in the lead up to the event, I was pleased to see a huge amount of support for the Monster Truck promoters.
It is difficult for some shows to make their way to Mount Isa, and if there is no support when they get here, it means it is less likely that we will see these events return.
The Casa Grande Ball was also held this weekend, and as always the support was fantastic, and in turn the proceeds will go towards helping this community be the best it can be.
I did attend the ball, but I believe many guests were surprised to have me serve them their drinks on the night.
I have always used this event to give back to the community and offer some volunteering hours alongside the Zonta Club of Mount Isa, and I thoroughly enjoy assisting in this way.
We also saw the successful event for Paws Hoofs and Claws this weekend, who held their annual Canine Carnival.
With hundreds of attendees and their four legged friends attending the day out, it is wonderful to see that we have so many dedicated and loving pet owners in Mount Isa, who are willing to spoil their pets and spend some special time with them, while supporting a worthy cause.
And we certainly have more to look forward to in the coming weeks, with the Outback Business Awards set to honour those who are a shining light in our community, the Great Northern Clean Up, which is a great time for us to show pride in our community, the upcoming Arts and Crafts market which highlights the talent we have in our very own city, and the always popular Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic.
Where ever your interests lie, there will be an event for you to look forward to and share with your colleagues, your friends, or your family.
As always, this is a lovely time for Mount Isa, and I look forward to seeing you all out an about enjoy what our community has to offer.
