The competition will take place at Council’s Australia Day Celebrations, to be held on the Civic Centre lawns from 7am on Thursday January 26.
We encourage everyone to come down and join the celebrations
- Mayor Joyce McCulloch
A free barbecue breakfast and entertainment will be provided, with your chance to come dressed in Aussie theme to win a prize.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said Mount Isa City Council always enjoyed providing the Australia Day celebrations, and the pie eating competition and the best dressed Aussie competition were new additions to add a bit of fun the formal proceedings.
“We encourage everyone to come down and join the celebrations, have a free breakfast and perhaps try their luck at pie eating, or showing off their best dressed Aussie attire,” Cr McCulloch said.
The celebrations will continue inside the Civic Centre from 9am, with the Australia Day citizenship ceremony, followed by the Australia Day Awards, and the cutting of the Australia Day cake.
