There outside the Civic Centre was the Mayor Joyce McCulloch dressed as Batgirl, her CEO Michael Kitzelmann as Superman, Acting police inspector Chris Hodgman as Thor (complete with turmeric in his wig) as well as other council and emergency services workers in lavish costumes.
But it was real and they were all there in their favourite superhero costume in a good cause.
Mr Kitzelmann organised the event for Super Boss Day raising money for HeartKids which supports children with congenital heart disease and he thanked the “everyday” heroes, emergency services who were there.
“It’s great to see so many here, it’s amazing,” he said.
