While a national spokeswoman for the mining support company could not confirm precise numbers of apprentices sought in this intake, it is expected there will be some opportunities for Mount Isa locals. There had been 21 apprenticeships available for the January intake. Company spokesman Vincent Cosgrove said Hastings aimed to increase this number for 2018.
The four year apprenticeships on offer include auto electricians, boilermakers, diesel fitters and fitter machinists.
