Passenger numbers went down from 186,605 passengers in financial year 2015-16 to 182,208 in FY 16-17, a decline of 2.4%.
However QAL CEO Chris Mills said positive signs were emerging that boded well for the financial year to come.
“While Mount Isa Airport recorded a modest decline over the year, it moved into the new financial year off a strong base following five consecutive months of growth,” Mr Mills said.
“Economic conditions are challenging right now in many parts of regional Queensland, but we are here for the long haul.”
Mr Mills said QAL was committed to growing the airport. “We have delivered a solar car park which generates up to 94% of the terminal’s daytime energy needs,” he said.
