The forum will be held on the evening of Tuesday, November 21, 6.45pm for a 7pm start – ahead of the election date on Saturday, November 25.
The forum will be held in the hall at Spinifex State College with entry to the venue from Abel Smith Pde.
All candidates in Traeger will be invited to the forum and already Robbie Katter (KAP), Danielle Slade (ALP) and Ron Bird (LNP) have indicated they will attend.
North West Star editor Derek Barry will moderate the forum with the assistance of ABC North West Queensland breakfast presenter Zara Margolis.
The format will be confirmed in the coming weeks however it is likely the candidates will be given a few minutes each to speak to the audience, followed by an hour or so of questions from the floor.
A decision on whether to broadcast the event live on Facebook will be taken if the numbers on the door look good with the venue capable of seating over 180 people.
The event will be free (though there may be a gold donation for a charity to be determined).
The North West Star and ABC North West Queensland thank Spinifex State College for providing the venue.
Traeger is a new seat that contains most of the old seat of Mount Isa (held by Robbie Katter since 2012) and Dalrymple (centred on Charters Towers and also held by the KAP.
Robbie Katter is a warm $1.15 favourite to win the seat with the LNP at $6 and the ALP at $7.50.
The full list of candidates will be determined at Tuesday’s ballot draw at 2.30pm at the QEC office in Mount Isa however a sixth candidate has emerged to join Robbie Katter (KAP), Danielle Slade (Labor), Ron Bird (LNP), Sarah Isaacs and Peter Relph (Greens).
That candidate is Mount Isa boilermaker Craig Scriven.
