This year, the Mount Isa Rodeo Series hosted the event in conjunction with their Rodeo Services Australia finals.
This saw competitors battle it out for double points to try and sneak that podium position.
The New Year’s Eve Rodeo program had 12 open and four junior categories consisting of both timed and rough stock events.
Mount Isa Rodeo Series secretary, Kyam Gillett, said nominations were promising and made for a competitive night of rodeo action.
“We drew competitors from across north west and central west Queensland, with the double point finals for Rodeo Services Australia,” Ms Gillett said.
“If competitors were at the top of their standings, they made the journey to defend their title. There was quite a real opportunity for the standings to change with the double points available.”
Ms Gillett said despite the event being held outside of the north west rodeo season, the New Year’s Eve Rodeo in Mount Isa provided competitors with one last competition before the end of year.
