Ms Ibardolaza had been acting in the role for seven months following the dismissal of former CEO Michael Kitzelmann.
She said she was looking forward to working with the councillors to achieve the strategies and priorities that they have adopted on behalf of the Mount Isa community.
“I am humbled at this vote of confidence and thankful for the opportunity to make a difference within our region,” Ms Ibardolaza said.
“There is a lot of work to do and the council has an exciting future implementing the strategies identified in the Corporate and Operational Plans and the Economic Development Strategy.”
Mayor Joyce McCulloch congratulated Ms Ibardolaza on her appointment.
“Sharon is a skilled and diligent officer and she’s building an impressive collaborative network among CEOs not only in Queensland but interstate as well through the Australian Mining Cities Alliance,” Cr McCulloch said.
“Her appointment to the permanent position adds stability to the council’s administration and confidence for councillors as we all work to manage and improve the city on behalf of ratepayers.”
