Cloncurry celebrated St Patrick’s Day one day later with Curry Day at Mary Kathleen Park on Sunday afternoon.

Curry Day is a chance for newcomers to check out all that Cloncurry has to offer and on a hot afternoon a good crowd were happy to seek shade in the park and browse through the exhibits and stalls.
Cloncurry Shire Council deputy mayor Dane Swalling thanked people for coming and encouraged people to sign up to one or more of the many groups present at the day.
To celebrate St Patrick’s Day, people were encouraged to wear green and there was a costume parade of the children in their green outfits with prizes for best dressed.
The year 2017 was a big one for the Curry with the town’s 150th birthday and 2018 is also shaping up as another big year with the 90th birthday celebrations for the RFDS in May.
That will be followed by the annual Cloncurry agricultural show in the middle of June and the show was represented on the day as were the Cloncurry Merry Muster which was fundraising with a sausage sizzle and a brand new motorbike was also on display which will be raffled off to raise money.
Also raising money with a raffle was Bluecare and also in attendance were the North West Queensland Breast Cancer Support Group, James Cook University, the pony club and the Cloncurry Eagles rugby league team gearing up for the season which starts on April 21.
Police PCYC were there as were the firies showing up their truck to the youngsters while singers and musicians entertained on stage.
