Mount Isa residents can attend the four hour session on April 30 at the Red Earth Hotel.
The same training will be held in Cloncurry on May 1 at the PCYC.
The program will be run by clinical psychotherapist Melissa Andrews who has worked across rural areas to reduce stigma and give locals practical skills when dealing with a suicidal person.
“The safeTALK short training program gives valuable information and practical skill to all community members that are willing and able to help an individual when suicide may be present,” Ms Andrews said.
“The program can equip all community members to have the competence and confidence to connect with someone that may state they are vulnerable to suicide.
“Not all people at risk need the same help, and safety plans apply to the particular person at risk and their current needs,” she said.
