Outback at Isa Business Manager Donna Olivero said they celebrated Queensland Day by hosting a free morning tea.
“We had lots of giveaways, morning tea from the cafe and a live band playing,” Ms Olivero said.
Around 200 tourists and locals dropped into the centre with some people dressed in maroon and Origin jerseys.
The two pieces of recycled artwork which are permanent structures near the back carpark for Queensland Day depiction the prehistoric fossil – Big Bird and large letters – Q.L.D.”
Pieta Parsons was the creative artist input and Alan Rackham constructed the structures.
“The display has a mining element with an old wheel, an airleg drill and a drive chain from an old mine and leaf springs from a 4wd vehicle. Very much the outback mining theme.”
Mayor Joyce McCulloch and Deputy Mayor Phil Barwick attended the event along with Deputy CEO Mark Crawley and Councillor Peta MacRae.
Ms Olivero said she wanted to thank the Premiers Department for the funding and to acknowledge the support from the local council.
