Drink driving remains a major contributing factor to fatalities and injuries on Queensland roads, even though an illegal Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) limit has been in place for over 25 years.
Now we are in the busy Christmas period, police are asking all drivers to always consider not only their safety, but the safety of all road users.
If you plan to drink, plan ahead. Don’t wait until you’re intoxicated to decide how to get home.
The best advice regarding alcohol use is simply ‘do not drive’ under the influence, however, if you are going to drink:
Organise a driver who will not be drinking or using any other drugs;
Make alternative transport plans;
Use public transport or ‘grab a cab’; and
Stay overnight.
