Heavy rainfall, which may lead to localised flash flooding, is expected over inland parts of northwestern Queensland through today and into Saturday.
Thunderstorms are also expected, and rainfall will be particularly heavy with this activity. Six-hourly rainfall totals of 75 to 125mm are possible, with locally higher totals with bands of thunderstorms.
Locations which may be affected include Camooweal, Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek and Urandangi.
Despite persistent overnight falls in Mount Isa only 5mm went into the gauge at the airport. Cloncurry has had 35mm in the past two days, Julia Creek had 54.8mm.
Many roads are closed including the Landsborough Hwy between Cloncurry and McKinlay, the Flinders Hwy between Julia Creek and Richmond and the Cloncurry-Normanton Rd.

The chance of rainfall in Mount Isa remains high until the middle of next week.
As of Wednesday January 30, the Lake Moondarra capacity is 34.8% while Lake Julius is on 74.1%.
