However, kids need to play and have fun with their mates and families so Camooweal Police organised a family fun park day which was held on Saturday February 23 at Camooweal Park.
Helping out local police to run the event, Mount Isa PCYC, Myuma Crossroads program, Rainbow Gateway and the parents of Camooweal all pitched in to make the event a success!
Throughout the day, there was water slides, team sports, water games, Oz tag and of course, the much enjoyed barbeque.
Mount Isa PCYC Sergeant Bernadette Strow (Bernie), enlisted two off-duty FYC’s (Constable Georgina Chinner and Constable Matt Croghan) from Mount Isa Police Station to travel with her to Camooweal and provide much needed support to Camooweal Police to run this event.
Sergeant Bernie and the FYC’s were well received by the community members and the children – it was great for everyone to meet some new and friendly faces on the day.
The FYC’s also enjoyed their time engaging with the Camooweal community and were a big hit with the children of Camooweal.
The children made sure all officers, including Sergeant Amit Singh, got wet – these kids sure do love playing with water and events like this give kids in remote communities something to look forward to, especially during the summer months when temperatures soar.
Camooweal Police would like to thank parents Arnold Anderson and Teaaka Stacey for assisting in setting up and running the program.
