The rates notice was due to be delivered on Wednesday February 27 but was suspended until later in March.
Cloncurry Shire Council mayor Greg Campbell said because of the region's situation after recent events, especially graziers and affected businesses, council had decided to hold off sending the rates out.
“The graziers and affected businesses needed some breathing space," Cr Campbell said.
"Council received one million dollars, along with the other shires in the North West, to support the primary production industry and Cloncurry council is working out what money will be left after processing the $5000 Carcass Disposal Assistance Grants for affected properties.
"Once we know what the uptake for that is, we will be able to work out how much we have got left from that funding and work out how we can spend that wisely to assist the industry as well.
"At this stage we won't have near enough to cover the rates concession."
Cr Campbell said once the logistics had been worked through a decision on rates would be made by the next council meeting on Tuesday March 19.
