An unusual time of year for a monsoonal trough to develop, the late wet season activity for far northern Australia is expected to develop over the Northern Territory and Western Australia by the end of this week.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Annabelle Ford said Mount Isa can expect nothing more then partly cloudy conditions.
"We are not expecting that trough to impact Queensland at this stage," Ms Ford said.
"Mount Isa has recently been experiencing high cloud for the last week and conditions are expected to continue due to an upper trough crossing Central Queensland.
"Any rain would be further south of Mount Isa, associated with a cold front later in the week."
Weather forecast for Mount Isa for Wednesday May 1 predicts partly cloudy conditions with a low chance of 1mm and a top of 32 degrees.
Thursday is expected to reach a top of 33 degrees with partly cloudy conditions.
Friday is predicted to drop to 31 degrees and 20 per cent chance of a shower.
Over the weekend temperatures are expected to drop further with Saturday forecasting a top temperature of 29 degrees and an overnight low of 19 degrees.
While Sunday is expected to reach a top of 27 degrees and an overnight low of 13 degrees.
Cooler conditions are expected to continue into next week.
