Southerly winds and a cooler air mass crossed the Mount Isa region this week, with overnight temperatures dropping. Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Annabelle Ford said recent overnight temperatures were nowhere near the May record.
"In 2011 the record for the coldest overnight temperature was recorded at 1.8 degrees," Ms Ford said.
"At this stage we cannot see Mount Isa breaking this record."
Ms Ford said the rest of the week could expect sunny, daytime temperatures of around 28 degrees.
"This is caused by a high pressure system," she said.
"However overnight temperatures are below average around 11 degrees.
"By the weekend another southerly burst will continue the cool change and temperatures are expected to fall 10 degrees below average."
Over the weekend maximum temperature is expected to be 21 and minimum of 7 degrees.
