During her nearly two years as a journalist Melissa has attended a sit in on Waanyi land with fellow journalist Lydia Lynch, met pop stars and sporting legends, traveled to events such as the Gregory Canoe Race and met many, many extraordinary locals and heard their stories.
Melissa will be joining the team at Cindication, an international PR company based in Melbourne, owned by Cindy Rochstein.
Ms Rochstein said they were very happy to welcome Melissa onboard.
"I've been working in the industry for more than 20 years and have known Melissa for nearly five, so I'm really happy she has decided to become part of the team."
Melissa said though she was sad to leave the North West Star the dream of working from home was a strong factor in her decision.
"There is some travel involved throughout the year but my home-base will continue to be Mount Isa," she said.
Check out some of Melissa's favourite stories from her time at The North West Star.
