The Carl Katter bridge on Hudson Fysh Dr will be replaced by a new bridge funded by the federal government's bridge replacement program.
The bridge will be closed for two to three months from early July and road users will need to divert to either Railway St or Normanton Rd to access the airport, equestrian centre and saleyards from town. The new bridge will be two lanes wide and more flood-proof.
Meanwhile the Department of Transport and Main Roads is doing bridge resurfacing works on the Ernest Henry and Anabranch bridges on the Barkly Hwy linking Cloncurry with Mount Isa.
The works go from June 17 to 28. The works will take place 6am-6pm Monday to Saturday and there will be a 40kph speed limit in place.
Wide load restrictions will also be in place.
