Last week saw overnight temperatures drop significantly, dropping as low as 3.1 degrees overnight on June 23 and the coldest daytime temperature reaching 20.6 degrees on June 22.
With the wind chill it felt two or three degrees even colder than the temperatures.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist David Crock said the air mass over Mount Isa and North Queensland had been caused by southerly trough.
"The conditions across Queensland have been cool and dry," Mr Crock said.
"This allows temperatures to really drop a lot overnight so Mount Isa has been experiencing quite cold mornings.
"This week winds are expected to turn easterly bringing warmer temperatures off of the Coral Sea."
Tuesday is expected to have a low of 7 degrees and reach a top of 24.
Wednesday is forecast to have a minimum of 9 degrees and a top of 24.
Thursday has predicted a low of 11 and a top of 26 degrees.
Friday has forecast a low of 14 degrees and and a top temperature of 28.
Saturday is expected to have a low of 15 degrees and top of 28.
Sunday has predicted a low of 14 degrees and a top of 28.
