His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC has officially announced the fifth Regional Government House will take place in Mount Isa from August 17-23.
The Governor made the announcement during a speech at Government House Monday night to mark the fifth anniversary since His Excellency was sworn in as Queensland's 26th Governor.
"I confirm publicly, Kaye's and my fifth Regional Government House is to be based in and from Mount Isa," Governor de Jersey said.
"The essence of the exercise is to conduct Government House operations for a week from a regional centre, to replicate so far as possible in the regional centre what would otherwise happen in the capital.
"Office staff are co-located with us, and we keep in regular FaceTime contact with those back at Fernberg (government house)."
It will be the Governor's first visit to Mount Isa since the 2016 rodeo.
Regional Government House is an initiative where the Office of the Governor relocates to a regional centre for a week.
This is the fifth Regional Government House undertaken by the Governor and Mrs de Jersey, following successful programs in Cairns (2015), Longreach (2016), Mackay (2017) and Weipa (2018).
Governor de Jersey was sworn in as Queensland's 26th Governor on July 29, 2014 for an initial five-year term, and fulfils important constitutional, ceremonial and community duties.
In November 2018, the Governor's term was extended for another two years, through to July 29, 2021.
