Five of the six current councillors are now favourites to retain their seats on council though its not looking good for long-term councillor Jean Ferris in eighth place.
After several days in which the count stayed at 17%, Peta MacRae is the big winner in the latest results storming up from seventh to fifth with Cr George Fortune just behind her.
That means James Bambrick from the Mount Isa Community Team has slipped out of the reckoning some 70 votes behind in seventh.
Independent Kim Coghlan looks set to return to council after a four year absence and she is in a race with Cr Mick Tully to top the poll with deputy mayor Phil Barwick a hundred votes further back in third.
In the mayoral race another three percent has been counted (now 68.5%) and Danielle Slade's lead has narrowed slightly over mayor Joyce McCulloch.
With 7687 votes counted Ms Slade leads by 171 votes, down from 190 votes at the last addition of votes.
Ms Slade has 3329 votes (44.34%), Cr McCulloch has 3158 (42.06%) and David Fletcher has 1121 votes (13.60%) with 179 votes informal (2.33%)..
