Regional Director North Queensland Leeann Jude said the move to co-locate within Centrelink's customer service centre would provide customers with greater accessibility of a range of state and federal government services, all in the one vicinity.
"The centre also houses the National Disability Insurance Scheme office, which many of our customers visit regularly. With our office nearby, it will make it easier to access for some of our more vulnerable customers," she said.
Ms Jude said the Public Trustee had been looking to co-locate a number of smaller, regional offices to collaborative spaces within other government service centres to ensure greater accessibility and convenience for Public Trustee customers and to provide additional support for staff within more remote communities.
"Our small two-person Mount Isa team are very excited to take up an office at Centrelink. The Public Trustee staff will have more opportunity to build relationships between the services, in the effort to better assist our mutual customers and staff," she said.
Previously, the Public Trustee office was located at 18 Miles Street Mount Isa. The Public Trustee office is open 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday and is now located at Centrelink Customer Service Centre at 30-32 West Street.
The Public Trustee supports local Mount Isa residents with financial, estate, trust and other essential fiduciary services, including Wills and Enduring Power of Attorneys planning and advocating for the rights and financial interests of people with impaired decision-making.
