The NWHHS said that with Queensland open to interstate travellers the risk of COVID-19 coming to our communities has increased.
It says testing only takes 10 minutes and you get results back by text within 2-3 days.
"Get tested, even if you only have mild symptoms," the NWHHS said.
"You don't want to be the person who neglects symptoms and finds out when it's too late".
Meanwhile with the vaccine rollout now started in Queensland NWHHS said the six Pfizer vaccination locations on the coast were just the beginning.
"Pfizer was the first vaccine to be approved by the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) and the first Queensland received from the Australian Government," the NWHHS said.
"There is a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines in Australia and globally, so we need to make sure those in the highest priority groups have access to a vaccine as soon as possible."
Despite a new snag with Italy blocking supplies to Australia, NWHHS said Queensland will soon receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.
"It's easier to store, move and share," they said.
"This means more locations will come online, including more hospitals, GPs and pharmacies."
The US government has also approved the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
