The play is an adaptation of George Orwell's famous novel Animal Farm, directed by Emma Harman.
One night, all the animals at Mr. Jones' Farm assemble in a barn to hear old Major, a pig, describe a dream he had about a world where all animals live free from the tyranny of their human masters. The animals plot a rebellion against Jones. When Jones forgets to feed the animals, the revolution occurs, and Jones and his men are chased off the farm. The Farm is renamed Animal Farm, and the Seven Commandments are painted on the barn wall.
MITS publicity relations officer Jenelle Robartson said the dramatic production is based on the book and adapted by the Shake and Stir Theatre Co, a profession company in Brisbane who have been successfully touring it for years.
"It is fantastic that we will be able to bring this adaption to a Mount Isa audience," Ms Robartson said.
"It's told in a very narrative style, so it's almost like being read a good book except you get to see the characters in front of you too"
Ms Robartson said there were many humorous moments in this story.
"I think it is a good contrast on some of the more dramatic sections of the play," she said.
"I think people will love the Animal mask work in this show, it really will be worth seeing".
