Ergon Energy corporate communications manager John Fowler said specialist engineers had identified the faulty power and were working to fix it.
He said initial investigations into the outage revealed the power line had switched on protection settings at the Duchess Rd, shutting down power to customers in Mornington, Menzies, Pioneer, Happy Valley, Healy and Townview.
Power was progressively restored to 4,900 customers around 9pm Tuesday night after a two hour and 20 minute black-out.
"This morning power was restored to all 4,900 customers by 8.05am after being out for an hour," he said.
Mr Fowler said Ergon Energy apologised for the interruptions and inconvenience.
"We're pretty confident that there won't be any more outages related to this one particular power line, we've taken it out of service as a precautionary measure," he said.
He said a lack of power to local TV station transmitters had meant TV channels were also interrupted.
Last week Member for Kennedy Bob Katter once again called on state government to support a CopperString project to link Mount Isa to the National Electricity Grid saying it would revitalise every mid-west community along the 1000km stretch to Townsville.
Mount Isa businesses also struggled through the power disruptions, with many forced to turn customers away.
A Queensland Health spokesperson said the Mount Isa Hospital operated on emergency power intermittently throughout Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Regular health services were not affected, he said.
An early learning centre, Coles, restaurants, petrol stations and the cinema were also affected.
