The latest figures released by airport owners Queensland Airports Ltd showed 17,172 passengers passed through Mount Isa in October 2017.
That is up 12.8% on October last year’s figure of 15,222 passengers.
QAL CEO Chris Mills said a strong showing on Mount Isa’s Brisbane and Cairns services prompted close to 13 per cent growth for the airport in October.
“October was Mount Isa Airport’s ninth consecutive month of growth, putting its financial year to date growth at 9.1 per cent year on year,” Mr Mills said.
It was a good month for the four QAL group airports Mount Isa, Gold Coast, Townsville and Longreach all recorded an increase in the month, growing 3.6% on October 2016 to deliver more than 763,000 passengers.
Speaking in August Mr Mills said that while Mount Isa was below its peak of several years ago, these were “positive signs”.
