For the remainder of Monday heavy rainfall, which may lead to localised flash flooding, is expected over parts of the northwestern interior (west of Julia Creek). Six-hourly rainfall totals of 70mm to 120mm are possible.
Damaging wind gusts up to 90km/h are also possible to the south of the monsoon trough and tropical low.
Locations which may be affected include Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Gregory Springs, Winton and Hughenden.
It is also still raining in Mount Isa.
With no let up in the rainy weather, overnight falls across the region kept the ground soaked and strong winds uprooted trees around the city.
Mount Isa received 30mm and Cloncurry 40mm overnight with the remainder of the day forecast to be cloudy with a Very high (95%) chance of showers tending to rain periods at times
A vigorous, slow-moving monsoon trough lies across north Queensland, currently extending from Ingham to Gregory Springs and into a deep, semi-stationary tropical low, situated about 200 kilometres north of Mount Isa.

The monsoon trough may remain slow moving or drift shift slowly south over the next day or two.
It will remain active this week, with further heavy and intense rainfall expected for already saturated catchments.
Lake Moondarra is now up to 84.8% full while Lake Julius is 100%.
