Nine locals will be judged across three categories including formal wear, Disney theme and swimwear on Saturday March 2 at 8pm.
The Buffs Club events coordinator, Tullita Miller, said this year's entrants were mostly new competitors.
"This competition is not just about women wearing bikinis it is about their self-confidence and their hard work and determination to get their body into shape for the competition," Ms Miller said.
"The entrants were finalised by January, so they have had two months to organise a food plan and workout schedule to become conditioned and work their body into shape for the competition.
"Through our sponsors, entrants also receive private workouts, passes for Anytime Fitness, discounts at Second to None Nutrition so they had a lot of resources to get their bodies into shape."
Ms Miller said the winner of the competition would travel to the Gold Coast for the next competition.
"MAXIM take it upon themselves to look after the contestants so they get to jet skiing, boat fun rides and have the opportunity to get bigger sponsors," she said.
"They then have the chance to win Australian Swimwear Model of the Year, and if they win that they will be the cover-girl of the MAXIM calendar next year."
Ms Miller said last year's competition drew 250 attendees with tickets selling out in 45 minutes and had accommodated for more people to attend this year
In between the three swimwear rounds The Buffs Club will also host the first official round of the Julia Creek Dirt n Dust best butts competition.
The Buffs Club will also draw a $3000 raffle with all the profits going towards the Mount Isa SES.
