Council is boosting security at the historic, Heritage Listed Camooweal Community Hall, with an almost 170-metre perimeter fence to be built next month.

The hall is almost a century old - it was erected in 1923 - and the 1.8-metre-high Hercules fence will significantly improve the amenity's security.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch says the hall has been the venue of some of Camooweal's most significant community events over the years, including weddings, church services, dances and concerts, with decades of memories attached to the building.
"The hall was originally built by Barkly Tableland Shire Council as a council chambers and community hall, but it's also been used for many events, and even as a voting booth and to entertain important guests visiting Camooweal," Cr McCulloch said.
"We know the hall holds a very special place in the hearts of Camooweal residents and that security is of utmost importance, so we're very pleased this fence will be constructed.
"It will ensure the hall will remain a significant community asset for many more years to come."
The fence will consist of steel panels and will start to be installed by a local contractor in about two weeks' time.
The project will cost approximately $30,000 and will take three weeks to complete.
On-site adjustments will be made to ensure access to the horse-and-rider statue and stone plaque.
A total of five vehicle and pedestrian gates will be situated at various points along the perimeter fence, to provide access to the hall. As well as this, a new flagpole will be installed, and minor building maintenance work will be carried out on the hall while the fence installation is taking place.
