The aircraft was one of four delivered across Queensland, with Mount Isa's servicing North West Queensland.

RDFS Queensland CEO Meredith Staib said the clinic aircraft would transport RFDS staff to clinics around the region.

"This is not a patient aircraft. We have additional seats to transport our staff and those of our health service partners to clinics," Ms Staib said.

"Before the introduction of this aircraft, the aeromedical aircraft was being used for clinics. This was a disadvantage when the aircraft was tasked elsewhere."

Ms Staib said with additional seating RFDS could take their partnered service providers to the clinics also.

"This is a great service which will be used to expand the primary health care for those in the region.

"We are keen to work with all our partners to utilitse this service, including North West Hospital and Health Service, Queensland Primary Health Network, Gidgee Healing and Allied Health professionals."

Ms Staib said the introduction of the new aircraft marked the three year anniversary since the previous clinic aircraft left Mount Isa base.

"It is great to have this service back in the region," she said.

"The aircraft features the new RFDS paint livery including the red underbelly and a pressurised cabin with air conditioning.

"The benefit for our staff doing a lot of hours on the clinic runs, is that the aircraft is pressurised so it is a bit more comfortable with hot conditions.

"It can also fly higher to divert bad weather, which is more ideal for wet season conditions."

The Mount Isa clinic aircraft will bring the Queensland RFDS fleet tally to 20 aircrafts.
