A strong high-pressure system over southern Australia is significantly influencing weather over northern Australia causing temperatures to drop.
On Wednesday Mount Isa had an overnight low of 9.3 degrees while Camooweal reached 7.8, Cloncurry 8.2, Julia Creek 7, Richmond 7.4, Hughenden 3.6, The Monument 5.1 and Urandangi 7 degrees.
While further south got much colder with Birdsville recording an overnight temperature of 3.7 and Winton recording 4.6.
In the Gulf of Carpentaria it was slightly warmer with Normanton recording a minimum temperature of 14.7 degrees, Century Mine 12.5, Mornington Island 15.8 and Burketown 13.8.
For the remainder of the week Mount Isa is predicted to experience single digit overnight temperatures on Thursday before warming up into the weekend.
Thursday night expected to reach eight degrees and a top of 21.
Friday should see an overnight low of 10 degrees and a top of 24.
Saturday predicts a low of 13 and top of 27 degrees.
Sunday should see a low of 15 degrees and a top of 29.
