The Our People Matter strategy was developed to focus on the health, safety and well being of Queensland Police Service (QPS) employees and their families.
This visit was organised to help raise awareness of the disease and by sharing his personal experience with attendees, he was able to educate on effective screening procedures (whilst also dispelling some well known myths about the process!).
Sergeant Lindsey believes it's important men start a conversation about their health and get checked for the disease.
An advanced care paramedic and a student General Practitioner from Cloncurry were also in attendance and were able to offer input from their perspective also.
Officer in Charge of Cloncurry Police Station Senior Sergeant Brad Rix said staff and friends at Cloncurry really appreciated Steve giving up his time to attend and speak to them and that his message was simple, yet compelling.
"A valuable and much appreciated presentation," Senior Sergeant Rix said.
Sergeant Lindsey will be manning a men's health information booth at the 2019 Mount Isa Mines Rodeo and will be accompanied by a prostate cancer specialist nurse.
He will also be holding prostate cancer awareness seminars during rodeo week, which will be advertised closer to the time.
