The scheme has been extended until December 31 following a six-month trial period and means, for instance, a community fare from Cairns to Karumba would cost $209 instead of the standard best fare of $280.
The company said the Community Fare scheme is available to 23 communities across the Rex operated Western 1 and 2 routes from Brisbane, the Northern 1 and 2 routes from Townsville and the Gulf route from Cairns.
The Community Fare is available outside of 60 days prior to departure subject to fare availability, in addition to all remaining unsold seats being made available as Community Fares within 24 hours of departure.
Rex Queensland state manager Steve Jones said the extension of the scheme was a testament to Rex's on-going support of regional communities.
The Rex Community Fare (Rex Promo) is available for purchase via www.rex.com.au
Regulated routes served include Brisbane to Mount Isa, via Birdsville, Bedourie and Boulia, Townsville to Mount Isa via Winton, Longreach, Hughenden, Richmond and Julia Creek, and Cairns to Mount Isa via Normanton, Karumba, Burketown and Doomadgee.
