Despite COVID-19 restrictions, Mount Isa McDonalds is continuing to raise much needed funds for sick kids who utilise the Mount Isa Hospital Charity Cart and the Ronald McDonald Charity House in Townsville.
McDonalds Mount Isa licensee Cristina Davis said McHappy Day (November 14) festivities would look a bit different this year.
"Usually we have activities happening in store, but due to COVID-19 dine-in restrictions we can't have that this year," Ms Davis said.
"So instead of a McHappy Day we are having McHappy Time which will run in the lead up to McHappy Day from October 21, to help spread out the number of people coming into the store at one time.
"From October 21 we will be selling Silly Socks for $5, Helping Hands for $2, family and corporate hands are selling for $10 and $50, and donation buckets in store and in the drive-through.
"We will also have a raffle for hamper packs as well."
Last year Mount Isa McDonalds raised $7000 for the Ronald McDonald Charity House, but hopes to raise between $8,000 and 10,000 this year.
"Leading up to McHappy Day we just ask the community to get involved and buy a raffle ticket or even just a bottle of water with funds going to the charity," Ms Davis said.
"I think because a lot of the community in Mount Isa do use the Ronald McDonald House in Townsville, we have always had great support from the community.
"Every little bit helps towards the house and it's great to see the community supporting this initiative each year."
