Most people will be more familiar with International Women's Day held in March but on November 19 International Men's Day is celebrated worldwide to recognise the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities.
Now Mount Isa will host its inaugural International Men's Day awards dinner on Saturday November 20 at Buchanan Park.
This event was the brainchild of Narelle and Jason Crockett local business owners of MC Scaffolds and North West Stage Hire who wanted to hold an event that recognises the wonderful men and boys in the Mount Isa community.
Narelle invited Tony 'Tonka' Toholke come on board and help organise what will be a casual event aimed at the men of our community where they feel comfortable, can relax and enjoy themselves.
"The event will be nothing like any other awards dinner the town has ever seen before." Mr Toholke said.
"Catering will be done by food trucks that patrons can just help themselves, no formal seating arrangement, the event will have more of a group of mates getting together to have a few laughs in a man cave feel rather than a formal awards dinner."
TIACS (This Is A Conversation Starter) foundation, which was Tonka's charity for 2019 Isa Rodeo Queen Quest, have come on board to support this event.
TIACS provide a free phone service to connect remote communities to much needed mental health professionals and promote good men's mental health.
There will be three award categories on the night
