The service officially went to air at 10.30am on Friday, on 104.5MHz (FM).
Southern Cross Austereo media manager Nicole Reid said the station would be broadcasting the same program as Mount Isa, complete with local and rural news.
The project has been in the making since June when the station began building the necessary equipment racks and has been steadily progressing since then.
"We are excited to be able to provide Cloncurry with another radio option," Mrs Reid said.
