Gavin John Dempsey, 19 at the time of the incident, had been facing the Mount Isa Magistrates Court for charges including burglary, assault, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle when he jumped the docks and led police on a manhunt through the city before being returned to custody.
Dempsey was initially wearing a prison smock, but allegedly then removed his clothing and climbed on to the roof of Woolworths, jumping between buildings until he reached the roof of Crazy Clark's on the corner of Miles Street and Rodeo Drive.
He was caught by police almost an hour later near Bell and Moir Toyota on Rodeo Drive and taken into custody.
Dempsey reappeared at the courthouse facing 24 charges including the fresh charge of escape by persons in lawful custody, which stemmed from the naked stunt.
Police prosecutor Bimal Raut told the court of Dempsey's extensive and violent criminal history including an incident where he had beaten a woman while she was holding a baby in her arms.
Magistrate Rod Madsen said Dempsey had shown ''complete contempt for the justice process by escaping from custody''.
Dempsey was sentenced to two years imprisonment for assault occasioning bodily harm, two years imprisonment for burglary, six months imprisonment for common assault, 12 months imprisonment for unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and eight months imprisonment for escape while in custody. Terms are to be served concurrently, with a parole release date of September 16.
