The pair has been added to the top of the ‘Welcome to the Isa – Birthplace of champions’ sign near the city’s airport.
Jac and Shaz put the spotlight on Mount Isa in a positive way, becoming icons and ambassadors for the city during the reality show.
Since becoming runners-up on the show they have continued to promote the city is various ways.
The show attracted an audience of more than 1.5 million each night, with Jac and Shaz proudly mentioning Mount Isa in every single episode.
Mount Isa Mayor Tony McGrady said an extra piece was added on top of the current sign and can be seen driving into Mount Isa from Camooweal.
“The sign is so big and so eye-catching that you see it before you see the stacks,” Cr McGrady said.
“The new addition to the sign was funded entirely by Alonso Guillermo of Steelcon, who should to be commended for a job well done.”
Cr McGrady said the city is very proud of Jac and Shaz and the way they both presented themselves to the nation as two very homely ladies with enormous ability.
“They have put Mount Isa on the map for all the right reasons, and now their friendly and recognisable faces will be up in lights at the entrance to the hometown they are so passionate about.” Cr McGrady said.
