Dan Leyden, known as Dingo Dan by mates, will have his flight and a plus-one ticket to Sydney paid for by Budgy Smuggler so that he can attend the gala event on October 15.
Mr Leyden caught the attention of the brand after he jumped into the Buchanan Park arena during the Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo.
He was wearing only his Akubra, smugglers and matching socks to dance to Sexy And I Know It.
His wife Bianca was out of town when this happened.
“I was paying a little tax from the missus but I smoothed it over when I said she could be my plus one,” Mr Leyden said.
Actually, Mrs Leyden said “I’m used to it...it’s not the first time he’s done it”. She was disappointed she missed out on watching the fun.
Mr Leyden had performed similiar stunts during their wedding and at the Julia Creek Dirt N Dust festival.
Mr Leyden said; “I am going to be in deep discussions with (State MP) Rob Katter and (mayor) Joyce McCulloch to be on the billboard next to Jac and Shaz,” he said, referring to the billboard of celebrities that came from Mount Isa.
Expect to see more of Mr Leyden in his costume. Before he can attend the gala dinner at the Ivy Pool Bar he must create two videos.
“I’m going around to the local icons and businesses to promote the town and show pretty much where I hang out,” he said.
He considered a serious side to a competition that promoted the ‘ordinary’ male body.
“With social media these days, it’s good to show the kids it’s alright to be ordinary. I’ve been wearing budgies for a long time and I’m comfortable with my body and know I’m not going to be the spitting image of an athletic human being.
“It’s about me being comfortable with who I am.”
Six of the top 10 competitors are Queenslanders.
“What do you expect, this is where all the ordinary talent is,” Mr Leyden said.
Budgy Smuggler said “this is truly a Sunshine State at the peak of its powers.”
